7 common mistakes to avoid in the gym

Are you looking to lose weight??? However, exercising the right way is the punch of the idea. You might have taken the membership of a local gym. With so many pieces of equipment to choose from, it becomes hard to set up a proper routine.

So in order to achieve the results faster, avoid these seven mistakes in the gym

Waiting for the equipment

During peak hours, the fitness center remains packed.  The best option is to head to the gym early morning or late in the evening.  Working out in odd hours makes sure you do not have to wait for the equipment to use. However, if the machine is unavailable, do not wait or stop, continue with other exercises.

Skipping the warmup

However, no doubt it saves time, but skipping it is a way to get injured when your exercises get tough. So make you have a dedicated warmup that includes bodyweight exercises, including, lunges, squats, push-ups and jumping jacks. It helps elevate your heart rate.  Additionally, start with a lighter set of each exercise and increase the frequency and speed both slowly and gradually.

Not planning your routine

Walking in the gym without a plan is like heading to a supermarket without a shopping list. This way you will waste your time. So, therefore, plan your goals for the day in advance.

Doing cardio at the wrong time

Cardio is very relevant for weight loss regime. However, it is best, to perform it after your lifting sessions.  However, a 30 minute job prior to lifting weight increases your heart rate and when it comes to weight lifting you will be fatigued and it may lead to potential injury.

Making use of the same machines and sets

Your workout should change every few weeks. You can do this either by alternating the exercises or the acute variable like sets, reps and rest time. Use a workout log to track trends in your routine.

Working your core during the end of your routine

Performing planks, side planks and leg raise during the end of your workout session is a strict no. The best way is to incorporate core movements in between your exercises. You can perform them during the rest periods so as to maximize your time in the gym.

Leaving your water bottle at home

Leaving your water bottle at home means you have to head to the water fountain in between the sets.  It wastes your time in between the exercises. So, therefore, to keep your workout going strong, bring your own water bottle.
