5 reasons you should a gym for

For a long and healthy life, regular exercise is a must. According to the Centers for Disease Control, an adult needs at least 150 minutes of moderately intense aerobic workout every week. For those who looking to follow this recommendation of the institute, joining a gym is the best way to meet your targets.

Let’s have a look at the reasons why joining a local gym is the best idea:.

Get healthy

Joining a fitness center will help you do a balanced workout. The perfect blend of both aerobic and strength training exercises. This blend promotes healthy heart, weight loss and also improves muscle strength, balance and flexibility.

You find a motivation

Not all people enjoy working out. For some, it is a chore. However, if you belong to the latter group, then having surrounded by other people of same attitude motivates you to exercise regularly without any fuss.

Initially, you may be dragging yourself to the gym, but slowly and gradually, you will start enjoying the workout session.

Stress buster

An exercise regime helps as a stress buster. Work pressure usually adds to our stress levels. However, physical activity boosts the production of endorphins that makes us feel better emotionally. Also, it reduces the tensions in the body and mind both. This also improves your mood and quality of sleep.

Get to learn from the professionals

All the fitness centers have professional trainers on staff.  The trainers are usually qualified for the role. They have a degree in sports science or other related fields. They help you follow the regime in the most interesting way.  They understand your body needs and customize your exercise plan. Also, they teach you the best exercise techniques so that you don’t hurt yourself.

The best equipment

The biggest advantage of joining one is that you get access to a wide variety of weight machines, exercise classes and other equipment. So you can try a new workout and vary your routine.  However, if you do the same workout day after day, your gains will incrementally start decreasing. So, therefore, finding different ways of exercise can improve the quality of your workout.

So if you seriously want to lose weight and get into better shape, there is no other way than joining a gym.  Prior to starting any fitness regime, just remember you will not see the gains overnight. Things will take time to tune-in.

7 steps that can help you stay in shape

Do you feel guilty everytime you have a scoop of your favorite ice-cream? Let’s have a look at a few tips that can help you stay fit and in shape.

Fad diet is a strict no

Fit people don’t diet- they make healthy eating a part of their lifestyle. Nutrition is the ultimate key to staying fit. So, therefore, make a habit of listening to your body. Ponder over these questions like what makes you feel good? What keeps you full and energized throughout the day?

Following fad diets deprives our body of all nutrients that we need. Additionally, their effect does not last for long. They help you shed extra weight quickly, but in an unhealthy way.

Enjoy your workout

If you are one of them who hate exercise like anything, it is the time to find a different approach to workout.  The problem may be with your workout. Make your sessions interesting. Try different things, like HIIT, boot camps, cardio, aerobic, cross fit. This way you will enjoy exercising and will not dread it.

Prioritize your health and fitness

Most people let work, family and social life get in their way of exercise. However, to remain fit, you need to prioritize your health no matter what.

It means get up 15 minutes early if you have a morning meeting. Spend these 15 minutes working out. If you do not get time to gym, just jog for a while. You will feel good. Make sure you do not miss your routine no matter what.

Cheat days

To stay fit, you don’t have to eat perfect 100%. Cheat a little in order to keep your sanity. Treat yourself with a cheat meal once in a while. So do not feel guilty to enjoy a cookie, or some chocolate pastry or a scoop of ice cream. Just don’t let it become too frequent of a habit.

Sleep well

Sleep gives you the energy to work out on a regular basis. It also boosts your metabolic rate, enhance your performance and repair your muscles. Take at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

Socialize with like minded people

Hang out with like minded people. If your friends are into healthy cooking, you are more likely to join them. It will help you stay more active. However, when your friends just love junk food, try to encourage them to eat healthy.

Hitting the gym is not the only workout
·         Walk whenever you can
·         Pick activities like bike rides and tennis on weekends.
·         Always take stairs
·         Prolonged sitting is bad for you. So move often

7 common mistakes to avoid in the gym

Are you looking to lose weight??? However, exercising the right way is the punch of the idea. You might have taken the membership of a local gym. With so many pieces of equipment to choose from, it becomes hard to set up a proper routine.

So in order to achieve the results faster, avoid these seven mistakes in the gym

Waiting for the equipment

During peak hours, the fitness center remains packed.  The best option is to head to the gym early morning or late in the evening.  Working out in odd hours makes sure you do not have to wait for the equipment to use. However, if the machine is unavailable, do not wait or stop, continue with other exercises.

Skipping the warmup

However, no doubt it saves time, but skipping it is a way to get injured when your exercises get tough. So make you have a dedicated warmup that includes bodyweight exercises, including, lunges, squats, push-ups and jumping jacks. It helps elevate your heart rate.  Additionally, start with a lighter set of each exercise and increase the frequency and speed both slowly and gradually.

Not planning your routine

Walking in the gym without a plan is like heading to a supermarket without a shopping list. This way you will waste your time. So, therefore, plan your goals for the day in advance.

Doing cardio at the wrong time

Cardio is very relevant for weight loss regime. However, it is best, to perform it after your lifting sessions.  However, a 30 minute job prior to lifting weight increases your heart rate and when it comes to weight lifting you will be fatigued and it may lead to potential injury.

Making use of the same machines and sets

Your workout should change every few weeks. You can do this either by alternating the exercises or the acute variable like sets, reps and rest time. Use a workout log to track trends in your routine.

Working your core during the end of your routine

Performing planks, side planks and leg raise during the end of your workout session is a strict no. The best way is to incorporate core movements in between your exercises. You can perform them during the rest periods so as to maximize your time in the gym.

Leaving your water bottle at home

Leaving your water bottle at home means you have to head to the water fountain in between the sets.  It wastes your time in between the exercises. So, therefore, to keep your workout going strong, bring your own water bottle.

Staying fit- a few tips from professionals

Diet only cannot help you lose weight. To lose weight and promote a healthy lifestyle, you need to burn more calories than you eat. So the healthiest way to do that is by joining an aerobic class at a local gym.

Aerobic workout is the best strength training regime for your heart. It makes the heart work harder, thereby, increasing its strength, while decreasing the chance of any heart disease and high blood pressure issues. However, it is a fun workout.

Before you start

If in the past, you have been through an injury or any medical condition that may put you at risk, consult with your doctor first, prior to starting the workout. The doctor will help you understand your limits, including the target weight to lose and diet and exercise regimen.
Once your doctor has nodded in approval, start looking for a gym near to you. Health clubs offer lots of classes to help you get back in shape. So consult a professional trainer and take their guidance so that you lose weight in a healthy way.

Increasing activity will help you decrease weight faster

Having weight higher or lower than your healthy range, poses a serious threat to your health. It can not only damage your heart, but alleviates blood pressure and also affects your immune system.  Overweight individual is at a higher risk of diabetes, while those on the lower side risk bone loss.

So, therefore, lose weight in the right way. Do not overexert yourself. Eat healthy, but do not starve yourself. Eat balanced diet that includes whole grains, fruits, vegetables and lean proteins in it.

Eat moderate level of unsaturated fats and strictly avoid junk and salty food. Reduce the intake of sugar. Eat only when you feel hungry and eat at intervals.

A perfect blend of exercise and diet can help you achieve your goals in a healthy way. Be patient and do not over stress yourself.

Slow and steady wins the race

The old adage, “slow and steady win the race,” is true for those trying to maintain a weight loss.  If you lose it slowly, your body will have the time to adjust to the look and won’t try to pack the pounds again.

So go slowly.  Also, make sure you realistic expectations with your weight loss regimen. Targeting more than what you can ideally achieve will lead to disappointment.

A workout routine help you burn calories, speeds up your metabolism, and you feel more energized and alert throughout. Also, it strengthens your leg muscles and lowers your blood pressure, fortifies your immune system and boost blood circulation.
