Benefits of high intensity interval training

HIIT (high intensity interval training) is a method of work out in which you alternate low intensity moderate training for more intense driven training.  However, it includes intense exercises, but you actually workout for less time, and burn more calories. The session lasts no more than 20 minutes or so.

For example, the session would start off with a 3 to 4 minute warm-up, followed by 30 seconds of running at the fastest pace, and then 90 seconds of light jogging called an interval. The interval is repeated for around 6 to 10 times in the entire session. The exercise regime ends with 3 to 4 minutes of cool down.

Whether you want to lose weight, maintain existing weight or improve your fitness, high intensity interval training will help you achieve your goals in less time and in the right manner.

Benefits of HIIT

You get the most out of cardio exercises in minimal time

You get maximum cardio benefits in the less time. Few studies have revealed that 2.5 hours of rigorous HIIT Training offer the same benefits against 10.5 hours of long distance training.

Burn more fat in less time

HIIT directly impacts your resting metabolic rate that measures the amount of calories your body burn while you are resting. Hence, it increases your metabolism, thereby, helping you burn more fat.  Your body also continues to burn fat at a higher rate for up to 24 hours after the training. So, in the hours after a workout, when you are busy working on your laptop, your body is still burning fat.

Boost stamina

It improves your stamina. The maximum amount of oxygen one can take during exercising is called VO2 max. HIIT increases your VO2 peak, which enables you to perform every sort of physical activity for a longer span of time.  Get engaged in HIIT session for only a week and you will be able to run on a treadmill for half an hour straight, earlier which you were able to do just for five minutes.

High intensity interval training session lets you spend less time in the gym and benefit you more.
