The Importance of Aerobic Exercises

Cardio health is the most important for everyone. A healthy heart is essential for a healthy and fit body. Therefore, it is essential to maintain the heart in a healthy manner and that is what cardio or aerobic exercises help one do. Aerobic exercises are the ones that involve sustained activities that cause the heart and breathing rate to work faster and longer thereby pumping more oxygen to the muscles that are working during these exercises. Aerobic exercises include cycling, jogging, swimming, spinning, dancing etc.

The importance and benefits of aerobic exercises are many including the following:
  • Mental benefits: There are many mental benefits of aerobic exercises. A large population suffers from problems like anxiety, depression, and other psychological problems. Aerobic exercises release a chemical called dopamine in the brain which is feel-happy chemical. Therefore aerobic exercises help one to deal with problems like anxiety and depression and improve one’s self-confidence.
  • Weight control: Aerobic exercises help one to control one’s weight. This is because aerobic exercises involve a high rate of exertion which in turn burns more calories. This therefore helps in controlling and managing one’s weight. Aerobic exercises combined with a good diet can help one to lose weight over a period of time and thus maintain a fat-free and healthy body.
  • Reduce high blood pressure: Aerobic exercises help to lower high blood pressure and then keep in in control. High blood pressure is caused because of a weak heart. A weak heart has to work much more to perform its task which in turn puts strain on the arteries. This causes high blood pressure. Aerobic exercises strengthen the heart and its muscles and arteries which in turn helps one to maintain the right level of blood pressure.
  • Reduce chances of diseases: Aerobic exercises boost the entire immune system and strengthen it thereby preventing the body from several diseases. Problems like arthritis, diabetes, heart attacks and strokes can all be prevented if a person follows a strict regime of aerobic exercises.
  • Increase metabolism: Aerobic exercises are also good for the metabolism of the body. These exercises help one burn more calories and also strengthens the metabolic activity of the body. This in turn helps one to have a better and improved digestive system and also enables one to maintain healthy weight.
  • Keep bones healthy: Aerobic exercises help the bones to produce more mass and become denser. This in turn improves the health of the bones and the joints which in turn helps one to keep the bones healthier and stronger. Healthy bones further help in maintaining a healthy and a fitter body.
